LIMESTONE, Tenn. (Saturday, July 30, 2021) — Due to the rapid increase in the COVID-19 Delta variant throughout the region, The Crumley House will replace its largest and most important fundraiser, The Polynesian Beach Party, for a second consecutive year with online “Donation Days”.
“For our members, staff, attendees and our sponsors it’s truly a heart-breaking situation,” stated Executive Director Guynn Edwards. “However, in looking at the numbers and projections, there is a point when one realizes that health, the well-being of all and concern for others becomes paramount and that is why we are making this decision.”
The cancellation of the event brings to The Crumley House, a non-profit organization, yet another challenge in its fundraising efforts. In 2020, the center lost it’s highly popular Joggin’ for the Noggin 5K and the Polynesian Beach Party.
Crumley House Executive Board Member and Fundraising Chair Caroline Abercrombie, echoes that sentiment. “This was definitely a tough call and it’s not something we anticipated this close to our event. While we regret this for our residents, our staff, our sponsors and all who planned on attending, it is the responsible and correct decision at this time.”
However, all is not lost and along with staff, residents and board members The Crumley House is choosing to focus on the positive. We want to ensure all sponsors and donors are recognized for their donations and their continual support of The Crumley House. “Donation Days” allows previous donors from the Polynesian Beach Party to still receive full recognition, items are utilized as intended and money is raised to support our efforts in brain injury rehabilitation.
Crumley House Executive Board Member Donna Noland adds, “We know there is hope and we feel there are positives to gain from this. Down the road, we know when we are able to host this event again, its impact will be even greater. Our outreach has a chance to grow, we can create more awareness of traumatic brain injury and we can gain more community support.”
The Crumley House soon will announce the kickoff date for “Donation Days.” Stay tuned! The online effort will include auctions with spectacular items, opportunities to donate, messages from Crumley House staff and members and much more.
