The Crumley House Brain Injury Rehabilitation Center has been honored with the Enhancing the Lives of Disabled Persons Award by the American Legion Department of Tennessee during the organization’s annual convention and awards banquet in Nashville.
Presented annually by the American Legion Department of Tennessee, the award recognizes an individual or organization that has made a significant contribution toward improving the lives of persons with disabilities and expanding their opportunities to participate fully in their communities.
“It is truly an honor to receive this award from the American Legion Department of Tennessee,” said Edwards. “Knowing the high standards of service and commitment represented by the American Legion makes this recognition especially meaningful. We are humbled that our work has been recognized in this way.”
In recognizing The Crumley House, the American Legion cited the organization’s longstanding commitment to serving veterans, as well as its role as one of the few facilities in the nation dedicated to providing long-term rehabilitation and support for survivors of traumatic brain injury after acute care has ended.
“Our focus at The Crumley House is about more than rehabilitation—it’s about empowerment,” Edwards continued. “Every day we help survivors rebuild skills, regain confidence and rediscover purpose. Our goal is to help each person live as independently and meaningfully as possible. Receiving an award like this reminds us that we’re making a real difference in the lives of the people we serve.”
Since opening its doors in 1992, The Crumley House has provided comprehensive residential and adult day rehabilitation services for survivors of traumatic brain injury throughout Northeast Tennessee and the surrounding region. Through individualized therapy, life-skills training and community integration, the organization empowers survivors to maximize their potential and improve their quality of life.
